Captain Wilm Hosenfeld
If you’ve seen the Pianist, you’d know this man to be the kind hearted German who saves the lift of Wladysaw Speazlmen as he was near death. The Pianist is based on a true story and I decided to do some research after watching the film.

Wilm Hosenfeld was a German Army officer who rose to the rank of ‘captain’ nearing the end of the war. He helped rescue several Jewish and Polish residents, in the Nazi-occupied part of Poland. One of those most recognized people in which he saved, was pianist and composer Władysław Szpilman. Hosenfeld helped hide Szpilman in the ruins of Warsaw during the last months of 1944. Hosenfeld brought Szpilman food regularly and is undoubtedly the reason why Szpilman survived.

After watching The Pianist and reading more about Hosenfeld, it showed me what a warm hearted person he must have been. Though he was working for Nazi Germany, he showed that he still cared for the Jews and Poles suffering under harsh circumstances. Captain Wilm Hosenfeld is now honored and recognized as a Righteos Among the Nations.

Captain Wilm Hosenfeld is a good man because he was a hero. He’ll never be forgotten.

For the next good man…well, I’m still stuck on who exactly that might be. I don’t just want to write about some celebrity who’s done one good deed or whatever, I want to write about something that actually appeals to me and whom I see as a TRUE good man. You can say I’m taking this too seriously and this is just one media blog post yadayada, but for me, it’s more than that. Am I…getting more mature? OH EM GEE.

Till I find that second person to whom I look up to, ttfn

Call me old-fashioned (LAMELAMELAME), but I’m in LOVE with music from the 60s and such. I’m kind of getting sick of R’n'B, as it is usually the same sort of song over and over again…Don’t get my wrong, some songs are really good, but others can feel a little repetitive.

As of recent I have been listening to The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and The Smiths. I think I was influenced by the movie ‘(500) Days of Summer’, as the soundtrack to that film is really awesome. I suggest you take a listen. I’m also into acoustic music as well, but these ‘olden day’ songs are what really interest me at the moment. I find them really catchy and Simon & Garfunkel’s lyrics are really, really amazing.

Here’s two of my current favourite songs:

Simon & Garfunkel- Sound of Silence
This one is probably familiar to you. Listen to the lyrics.

People talking without speaking, people hearing without listening.

The Smiths- There is a Light that Never goes Out
From the 500 Days of Summer soundtrack.

To die by your side is such a heavenly way to die.

In some cases there isn’t really much more than what meets the eye. But in other cases, some people like to believe that even the smallest things have bigger meanings, even when not intended.

People are over-reading minor things that aren’t meant to be thought through so thoroughly. The best word to put it: overreacting.

Take Avatar, for instance. There are claims that the movie is racist against indigenous populations and also discriminating to the US Navy. This is simply an overreaction and people need to stop looking for minor details that might cause a bigger problem. This is the exact reason why society is going downhill. I may be young to speak like that, but I know for a fact that some things are meant to be left untouched. In Avatar’s case, it’s merely a movie. Just enjoy it. Is that so much to ask for?

The KFC commercial above made headlines when complaints were made about it being racist. People believed that the commercial really meant: “How do you survive a crowd of ‘black’ people? Give them some Kentucky fried chicken”. Put it however you want, but seriously, STOP LOOKING INTO THINGS SO MUCH. I guarantee you this commercial did NOT intend to be racist at all. I bet if it was the other way around and there was a single African American man surrounded by a noisy white audience, it would not have taken as much offence as it did.

Screw your heads on properly, people.

500 Days of Summer is easily one of my most favourite movies. No matter how many times I watch, rather than getting sick of it, I fall in love with it more and more.

If you haven’t heard of the film, then believe me, you’re missing out on a great film. It was in cinema’s a few months ago, so I’ll give you a quick run down of the film.

Narrator: This is a story of boy meets girl. But you should know up front, this is not a love story.
That is the opening like of the film, so it isn’t what you would call a ‘typical romance movie’; not at all.

A new assistant beings work with Tom Hansen, a young, gift card writer and designer who seeks for something a little more. Summer Fin, the new assistant, is a little conservative and rumour has it around the office that she’s a ‘bitch’. But Tom soon comes to the conclusion that he was beginning to fall in love with her.

The story follows both Tom and Summer as what may seem to be the perfect couple but there is something a little more that this ‘love’ story seems to offer.

500 Days of Summer, in my opinion, is not just a typical film, it is art. From its amazing soundtrack to its unusual yet amazingly unique camera scenes are what draw in its audience. The film opens your eyes to what the world can really be like and makes you not only see what’s infront of you, but around you as well.

This is definitely one of my most favourite films, as it never ceases to amaze me.

Narrator: This is a story of boy meets girl. The boy, Tom Hansen of Margate, New Jersey, grew up believing that he’d never truly be happy until the day he met the one. This belief stemmed from early exposure to sad British pop music and a total mis-reading of the movie ‘The Graduate’. The girl, Summer Finn of Shinnecock, Michigan, did not share this belief. Since the disintegration of her parent’s marriage she’d only love two things. The first was her long dark hair. The second was how easily she could cut it off and not feel a thing. Tom meets Summer on January 8th. He knows almost immediately she is who he has been searching for. This is a story of boy meets girl, but you should know upfront, this is not a love story.

I watched Avatar yesterday in 3D and I can’t decide on how good it is. I know it’s good, but maybe it’s so good that I can’t even admit to myself that it’s that good. I have no idea. But I think I would have preferred to watch it in 2D as 3D made me pretty dizzy and the 3D glasses made the film much darker than it actually was. I’d love to see it again, just to see what I’d think of it if I watched it in 2D.

To sum the movie up, it was like watching a fairytale in which I was part of. Oh, and Sam Worthington (Jake Sully) is hot. The Na’vi (the big blue people things) are much larger than the humans, so in some scenes it’s kind of weird…but I guess noone’s the same, so, eh.

Definitely recommend you to watch it.

PS: I still don’t get the difference between the animated series and the movie?

Jake Sully: I dreamed I was a soldier who could bring peace. But eventually, you always have to wake up.

Last night I sat through three hours watcing ‘Watchmen’ and I thought it was a terrific movie. From the director of Dawn of the Dead, I expected this movie to be a total blowout, whether it be from it’s B-list actors or incredibly long duration time, but I was definitely wrong.

Based on the graphic novel, Watchmen is set in 1985 where the world is edging ever so close to “Dooms Day” in which the United States government believe a nuclear bomb will be dropped by the Soviet Union. Citizens are living in angst and fear as the day draws closer and citizens are turning to violence as an answer. Their only saviours are former costumed superheroes. After one of their colleagues are mysteriously murdered, Rorshach, a masked man who holds unordinary strength is determined to find the murderer.

After meeting again with his retired superhero friends, Rorschach discovers uncanny past events which shape their dim futures.

I thoroughly enjoyed Watchmen, from it’s magical digital effects to it’s action packed scenes. Though, it was a bit confusing at times due to the dialogue of characters being quite complex and scenes were quite gruesome (though what could you expect from the director of Dawn of the Dead?). But overall, the movie is a definite must for those who are obsessed with the comic book series or even those who are out to look for a more ‘dark’ super hero tale.

Rorschach: I heard a joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he’s depressed. Says life is harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world. Doctor says, “Treatment is simple. The great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go see him. That should pick you up.” Man bursts into tears. Says, “But doctor… I am Pagliacci.” Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains.

Family Guy Season 7 Episode 2

One of my MOST favourite Family Guy episodes ever! Makes me laugh so much that I literally have to replay scenes over and over again. I believe Family Guy can be a little controversial at times, I still enjoy its humour. Though at times I do cringe at some things the characters say because they can be a little racial or discriminating, but that’s just Family Guy and if you choose to sit down and watch an episode of it you have to be prepared of what sort of unexpected things that may be said.
It’s still a good show, I think.

HERE is the real song in which Peter Griffin sings in the first YouTube video. It’s called Surfin’ Bird by the Trashmen and I think this is the most ridiculously annoying song I have ever heard (apart from those stupid Crazy Frog songs). It literally pierces your ears and the artists voice is SO ANNOYING. LOL. It’s so annoying that it’s funny. My friend told me that once he was in his Mum’s car and she put on a CD in which that song played. He burst out laughing like no tomorrow.

Haven’t you heard about the word?

I’m actually really excited about this new project for the ’10 (’10 really doesn’t look right) year 11 media class. I’m hoping (seeing as I’m INCREDIBLY lazy) that I will devote a post every week or so, as Mr Lavery suggests (or is it the criteria?). I’m using too many brackets, must be the nerves of writing my first blog .

I’ve posted a video of the Japanese man who married a Nintendo DS. You have most likely heard about this as it has been in the news as of current. I find this to be INCREDIBLY disturbing. Why on earth would someone marry a digital device?! WHY WOULD SOMEONE MARRY SOMETHING THAT ISN’T HUMAN?! Unbelievably inappropriate. I believe that it’s all for attention and, unfortunately, he got what he wanted. Some people don’t know what to do with their lives. So yeah, take a look at the video and tell me what you think.

Here’s a funny parody by mychonny on YouTube. It was featured on the Sunrise show on channel 7 when the hosts were pocking fun at the real case scenario. I think ‘chonny’ is funny, I also enjoy his other vids. Take a look
